The Algebra of Happiness — Scott Galloway
Let us use our time effectively. Spend time with your family, work hard, reach out to those around you, and strive to make a meaningful connection. No one has ever regretted being too kind, thoughtful, or generous in their life. A few things really matter in life, not many.
-
Greenlights — Matthew McConaughey
This book is probably my favourite book of all time, and for sure my favourite autobiography. Leave it to a world-famous actor to be a fantastic storyteller.
So rather than struggle against time and waste it, let’s dance with time and redeem it, because we don’t live longer when we try not to die, we live longer when we’re too busy livin. Let us all learn to get relative with the inevitable. — MM
Hell yeah.
-
Open — Andre Agassi
No matter how low you fall, you can always fight your way back to your best. Life is full of highs and lows, and the whole game is learning to be okay on that journey, and to get out of your own way. Above all, surround yourself with people willing to carry you on their shoulders until you make it. Find a Perry, a Philly, a JP, a Brad, and most importantly, a Gil.
-
Runnin' Down a Dream — Bill Gurley
Bill Gurley is a legendary venture capitalist, and this book grew out of a talk he gave on the same idea. It lays out his principles for building a career you actually love and avoiding the regret of a wasted one, backed by stories from people who did it well. If you are early in your career and trying to figure out how to play the long game, this is a great place to start.
Visual Media
-
Ted Lasso — Apple TV+
An American football coach gets hired to run an English soccer club he knows nothing about, and wins people over with pure optimism instead of tactics. Underneath the comedy it is really a show about kindness, belief, and leading people well.
Before watching it, the show sounded stupid to me too. Trust me it’s not. It is such a great demonstration of positivity and resilience and is so well made. Highly recommend it.
-
The Last Dance — documentary
A ten-part look inside Michael Jordan and the 1990s Chicago Bulls on their way to a sixth championship. It is part sports story, part masterclass on competitiveness, obsession, and what it actually costs to be the best at something.
Who doesn’t get fired up after watching this. Hell yeah.
-
The Social Network — dir. David Fincher
Arguably the greatest movie of all time. If you are ever looking for motivation, please find it here. Watching Mark Zuckerberg create Facebook is one of the most inspiring stories there is. On the contrary, watching Eduardo Saverin get fucked over by Mark Zuckerberg is also one of the most inspiring stories there is.

If you are looking for real advice directed at young men, this is one of the best places to go for it. He was a founding engineer at Brev.dev (acquired by NVIDIA). Super smart.

Gary Vee
Entrepreneur, investor, and one of the loudest voices on building a personal brand. You will find him talking about hustle, patience, and playing the long game, plus honest takes on marketing, social media, and where attention is headed next. Equal parts motivation and practical business advice.
He’s the fucking man.

The inspiration for my whole learning process. These videos are unreal. If you are ever looking for inspiration to learn something new, this dude rocks. Highly recommend.

Scott Galloway
NYU professor. He differs from the rest of my “people” recommendations in age, which is a huge positive. He has more life experience, both good and bad, and has used it to produce more life advice. In my eyes, he is often a good source of reason.
